Store: This may be the only bagel store in the city that could be classified as "cute". A small setup well considered, clean and white with cafe-style tables outside. Small drink selection, attractive pastry offerings. Shaggy's "It Wasn't Me" plays on the radio. Friendly staff, wearing a Supreme-style shirt with "Schmagel" in white text and red blocking. The whole inventory could be replaced with bath goods and nothing would seem out of place. In a business generally lacking intentional spaces, this is a good thing. 4
Bagel: Large bagel with a light brown shell. No central hole, nice bulbous shaping. Doughy texture but tougher chew overall. There's a lightness on consumption that's a pleasant change of pace from the typical bagel heaviness. Moderate topping density on one side, standard constitution. Virtually no salt play to the bagel, which proves a point of burden. 3.5
Cream Cheese: Served neutral temperature. Good amount and even coverage across the bagel. A fresh, smooth whip free of clumping. Excellent scallion presence, with big shredded chunks offering visual appeal and texture play. 4
