Store: A medium-small size store laid out to maximum advantage. Cafe-style vibe; Neko Case plays on the radio. Limited to moderate drink selection but impressive pastry offerings. Exceptionally fast staff, perhaps to detriment (see below). Spreads well displayed and offering strong variety. A pleasant consumer experience. 4

Bagel: Large bagel, soft and fresh but not hot. Toppings on one side with a somewhat erratic distribution. A very small amount of salt present. Oat flakes visually significant but not much impact on flavor. The toasted onion and garlic come to the forefront every third or fourth bite with great effect. An uneven experience, but doing lots of individual things at a high level. 4

Cream Cheese: Served deli case cold. The spread gives off the quality of exceptional freshness. The sensation that comes to mind is invigorating - even oxygenated? This is a rare instance where colder cream cheese plays as an advantage. Scallions of a good size and texture. An uneven and messy application to the bagel holds it back a touch, but it still rises to the category of noteworthy. 4.25
