#9 in Brooklyn #35 in NYC Bagel of Note

Store: A narrow store, with large back of house and limited standing room for customers. Classic menu signage overhead and a comfortable, lived in feel. Friendly, responsive staff. Very limited drink selection. A small assortment of eye catching pastries, no spread display. Many appealing breakfast sandwich offerings that don't fit the confines of this review exercise but are worth noting for creativity and variety's sake. Great for a pop in order 4

Bagel: Served fresh but not hot, medium-small size. Two sided toppings, slightly more dense on the underside. Done in a variation of the Chicago-style bagel, with a braided roll to the bagel and usage of celery salt. This particular batch of everything's was blackened, which did well to activate a smokiness to the seeds and flakes. Pair this with a pop of spiciness - visually it appears to be red pepper? - and you've got a unique morning everything bagel. The dough density and size make it feel a closer cousin to Montreal style than New York style, but this far outperforms the local MTL offerings. Sets itself apart in a crowded New York field. 4.5

Cream Cheese: Served room temperature. A somewhat overly generous amount but applied evenly. A fresh, clean cream cheese with a smooth profile and no clumping. Thick cut scallion but not much texture play. The vegetal flavoring is present and appreciated. A professional spread appreciated most for its body and consistency. 4
