Store: More fast-contemporary aesthetic than it's uptown counterpart, compact in presentation. A long store, 2 person booths and tables along the right side and ordering along the left. Hip hop plays overhead. TV screens for menus. A small number of uncommon drinks on display in the deli case. Gluten free baking kits prominently on display. Pleasant for dining in. 4
Bagel: Visiting on an exceedingly hot and humid day between two thunderstorms, this may be the first case of a review being impacted by the weather. The bagel was damp and somewhat wilted to the touch, very unusual. The fundamentals remain as strong as the offerings uptown - strong topping coverage, good salt presence - but the experience itself was anomalous. Do not let this deter you if you're looking for a gluten-free bagel in this part of town, as Modern Bread and Bagel continues to offer the best. 4
Cream Cheese: Served at good amount and even application. Trending to dairy latent, with not much scallion contribution, finely whipped. Its impact gets muted a bit by the humidity's effects on the bagel itself. Still a quality spread. 4
